Obituary

Birth: April 28, 1937 in            Death: September 12, 2015 in
Roady, Oklahoma                      Baytown, Texas

Joan was buried in Onalaska, Texas on September, 15, 2015, beside her adoring husband, Billy Cardwell. Magnolia Cemetery is located on Magnolia Cemetery Road, Onalaska 77360.

Joan Barnett Cardwell, 78, of Point Blank, TX passed away at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, September 12, 2015. At that moment she left behind her pain and sorrow to join our Savior and Lord in eternal joy and worship. Joan was preceded in death by her charismatic husband, Billy Cardwell, both of her parents, her sister, and her six brothers.

Those left to cherish Joan's memory are her son, Bill Cardwell of Sacramento, CA; her daughter, Valerie Cardwell Deaver and husband, Danny Deaver; Joan's grandchildren, Brandee Hake of Bacliff, TX; Jesse Caleb Deaver and Billy Joel Deaver of Baytown, TX. Adopted daughter, Cassandra Browning Ersnbarger of Georgetown, TX.

Joan, with her adoring husband, Billy, settled in Point Blank, TX after many, many, many years of travel. Her dedication to her husband and love of "family" motivated Joan to make the decision to follow her husband, with their children in tow, because she knew that separation from a husband and father would change the dynamics of the family bond they both desired to live. Putting it simpler Joan was an unselfish lady.

Joan served her community through her church, First Baptist of League City, TX and after the move to Point Blank, First Baptist Church of Onalaska, TX. Her dedication and sacrifice for others is one of the many amazing things about Joan. Time spent at the hospital giving support, prayer and time for family members of the hospitalized to rest and refresh. Many times holding the hand of someone's family member as they passed away, then giving support to the family. Taking strangers into her home to live
in order to give them the opportunity to get back on their feet and experience the love of Christ in a real way. Joan's attributes are far too many to tell in this form.

My Mom's wishes were for her friends to celebrate her life, not to mourn her passing. The graveside service was more an intimate affair and happened quickly after her passing. My sorrow was so overwhelming that I forgot many details and phone calls that should have been tended to and made.
Please forgive my inability to follow through with the proper funeral etiquette. A celebration of Joan's life is planned for April 2016. Details below:
