IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Albert Ayala
Villarreal
September 22, 1931 – June 25, 2024
With profound sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved father, Albert Ayala Villarreal, on June 25, 2024, at the age of 92. He passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family and wife of 49 years.
Albert's remarkable journey was filled with love, laughter, and adventure. Albert was born to John and Sally Villarreal on September 22, 1931, in New Caney, Texas. He was preceded in death by his children, Adriene Villarreal and David Babun, and is survived by his wife Elida, and children: Elsie Villarreal, Ray Babun, Giselle Babun, Abraham Villarreal, Ruth Babun, Miriam Babun, and Chris Villarreal, along with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Albert served with honor and bravery in the United States Army Air Corps and later in the United States Air Force, achieving the rank of Technical Sergeant (E-7). He was deployed five times in support of the Korean War and Vietnam War and traveled around the world during his twenty-one years of service. His selfless service and sacrifices will never be forgotten.
In 1975, Albert married his soulmate Elida in Houston, Texas. Together, Albert and Elida created a haven of love for their blended family of nine children. He had a heart of gold, a quick wit, and a contagious laugh that could light up a room. Albert loved to dance, and you could often hear his "grito" above the sound of the crowd anytime his songs "La Puerta Negra" or "La Cruz de Madera" were played. He truly was the life of any party he attended.
Before his retirement, Albert owned several successful businesses. He loved to work, and he provided opportunities to many people from all walks of life. Albert was a kind soul, and the people who crossed paths with Albert will likely never forget him and his vibrant personality.
Albert's passing leaves an unfillable void in our lives, but his legacy of love, kindness, and generosity will continue to inspire us. His memory will be a blessing to all who knew him, and his spirit will live on in our hearts forever.
Services in memory of Albert Villarreal will be held at Rios Funeral Home on July 5th, 2024, 21036, TX-494 Loop, New Caney, Texas 77357. The viewing will take place from 9-11 AM, followed by the funeral at 11 AM. Albert will be laid to rest at the Houston National Cemetery at 2:15 PM.
Rest in peace, dear father. Your love and legacy will never be forgotten.
