Obituary

ANDREW BRENNING VANCE SR. of Blanchard died peacefully on July 23, 2012 in the company of his family. He was 78 years old. Andy was born July 10, 1934 in Burleson County, Texas and except for time spent serving his country as a member of the U.S. Air Force, he was a lifelong resident of Texas. Andy lived a full and accomplished life. He took great pride, and he found great joy and success in the many roles he played in life as husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, in-law, co-worker, mentor, coach, neighbor and friend. Andy was a generous man who gave freely and cheerfully of his time and everything else he had without any expectation that his generosity be returned. Andy retired in 1990 and moved to Lake Livingston after working hard for more than 30 years at Continental Can Company in Houston during which time he developed many close and enduring friendships. Andy enjoyed most sports, and he especially loved baseball. He was an active member of Spring Branch American Little League in Houston for many years where he served as a director, coach, volunteer and fan. Andy also loved to fish and play dominoes, and he was darn good at both. But more than anything else, Andy loved spending time visiting with family and friends, laughing and telling stories.

Andy was preceded in death by Dorothy Machost Vance and their beloved daughter, Pamela Kaye; and also by his parents and several brothers and sisters. He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Dorothy Vance; his three sons, Andy Vance, Jr. and wife Peggy, Daryl Vance and wife Cindy, and James Vance and wife Tiffany; his son-in-law David Kaye; seven grandchildren, Mark Kaye and wife Lindsay, Reagan Vance, Justin Vance, Andy Vance III, Jack Vance, Blake Vance and Halee Vance; Bud and Margie Smith along with their sons Mike and Robert and families; his brother James Vance Sr.; three sisters, Anita Kubena, Evelyn Hall and Grace Lewis; and numerous other family members. Andy will be dearly missed by too many people to name all of whom are heartbroken to have lost him, but delighted and grateful to have had him in their lives.
