Obituary

Anetta Sue (Taylor) Barnett was taken home by her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday morning, 9 August 2021 at the age of 81.

On Saturday, 14 August 2021 Visitation will be held from 9:00-10:00 at First Baptist Church at 106 Colt Rd, Livingston, TX 77351. Immediately following will be a Celebration of Life Service from 10:00-11:00 also at the church. Graveside services will be held at 2:30 at Forest Lawn Cemetery located at 8701 Almeda Genoa, Houston, TX 77075.

Sue was born to Claude L and Adelia Fannie (Martin) Taylor on 26 September 1939 in Texarkana, Texas. She was raised in Texarkana where she, along with her family, were avid churchgoers. While attending church and at Texas High she discovered and cultivated her love of music. She loved marching in the band. She loved her Texas High classmates and has attended every one of the reunions which are held every 5 years.

In 1957, Sue met the love of her life, a handsome Air Force Airman named Jim Barnett. It was a true love story, they were married for over 50 year at the time of Jim's passing in 2012.

Sue adored her family and was a dedicated wife and mother. She raised Randy, Rusty and Lori sharing her love of music all while continuing to make serving the Lord a priority in her life. Sue worked as a Church Secretary and Children's Music Director who directed multiple performances complete with acting, costumes and of course music and songs. A constant in her service to the Lord was her playing the piano or the organ as well as being a member of numerous praise teams. Sue was a very talented musician who could listen to a piece of music and play it by ear.

While their home was filled with music and prayer, Sue also loved baseball. She was a wonderful baseball Mom when Randy and Rusty were growing up. As the grandchildren and even the great-grandchildren came along, she loved to attend games and cheer them on. Sue, aka Granny, was the epitome of a joyful and animated grandparent watching her babies do their best. For the grands and great-grands who chose other activities, Granny could still be found in the front row cheering for her person.

Family was extremely important to Sue and she looked forward to Family Reunions and Christmas get togethers every year.

Sue was preceded in death by her parents Claude L and Adelia Fannie (Martin) Taylor and her sister Doris Nell (Taylor) FauntLeRoy Goad. She was also met in heaven by her loving husband Jim Barnett.

She leaves behind to celebrate her life and carry on her legacy her son Randy Barnett and wife Paula; son Rusty Barnett and wife Sharon; and daughter Lori Barnett Stewart. Sue has a large family which includes 9 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
