Obituary

Anne Laird (Parrish) Pyle, 83, of Livingston, Texas, passed away on October 1, 2011. She was predeceased in death by her parents Susan Emma (Laird) Parrish and Major G.H. ""Gov"" Parrish, USMC, Ret., and by her husband of 56 years William Dalliba Pyle. She is survived by her daughter Charlotte Pyle and husband David Silsbee of Storrs, Connecticut, her son Stephen L. Pyle and his wife Nancy of Alameda, California, her grandson Kedron P. Silsbee currently working in London, and her nephew and niece Roger C. Pyle and Cynthia H. Pyle of Santa Barbara, California. Anne was always ready to lend a helping hand and was an elder and a deacon at First Presbyterian Church of Livingston where she also was a substitute pianist. She was active in the AAUW, particularly in the annual book sale, and she was a volunteer at the Polk County Mission Center. Anne''s immediate roots were in Polk County and she was a member of the Robert Rankin Chapter of the DAR. For many years in California, she was a high school teacher of French and math, and she was a lifetime member of ZLAC, the first women''s rowing club in the USA. The family thanks Star Starling and Sandy Davis for bedside prayers and support and Livingston ER Nurse Donna for extraordinarily kind and gentle care following Anne''s sudden admission to Memorial Medical Center in Livingston on September 30. Anne will be deeply missed by family and friends. A memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church of Livingston at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 8th, with Rev. Joe MacDonald officiating. Interment will be in Santa Barbara, California. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Livingston for the Memorial Fund (910 N.
