Funeral services for Aubrey Earl Nettles, 84, of Livingston, Texas, will be held Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. in the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel in Livingston, Texas with Rev. Harold Isaacs officiating. Interment will follow in the Peebles Cemetery in Livingston, Texas. Military Honors will be provided by VFW Post #8568. Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 9, 2016 beginning at 5:00 p.m. in the Cochran Funeral Home in Livingston, Texas.
Mr. Nettles was born on November 21, 1931 in Livingston, Texas to parents, John "Jack" Cicero Nettles and Katie (Maze) Nettles, and passed away August 5, 2016 in Livingston, Texas. During his life, he was a long time resident of Polk county and was a descendent of one of the founding families of Polk County. He graduated from Livingston High School in 1949. After graduation, Mr. Nettles proudly served his county in the United States Army in the 11th Airborne Division, 3rd Platoon from 1950 to 1953. After the military, he worked in the chemical industry and retired from Shell Chemical Company in 1990 after 36 years of employment, including 2 years in Saudi Arabia. In his spare time, Mr. Nettles served as the assistant scout master of Troop 915 in Deer Park, Texas. He was also an avid hunter, gardener, and outdoorsman. He is preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Kathleen Nettles; sister, Jewel Nettles; brothers, Alvis Nettles, Jack Nettles, Kenneth Nettles, and Glenn Nettles.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Novie Jean (Johnson) Nettles of Livingston, Texas; sons and daughters-in-law, Jon and Karen Nettles of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, and Col. Bentley and Tracy Nettles of College Station, Texas; grandson, Lucas Nettles and wife, Brittany of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; granddaughter, Lydia Nettles of Tulsa, Oklahoma; grandsons, Peter Nettles and Henry Nettles both of College Station, Texas; great-granddaughter, Adeline Nettles of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; brother, Wilson Nettles of Livingston, Texas; brothers and sisters-in-law, Elmer and Hilda Nettles of Livingston, Texas, and Floyd and Margie Nettles of Deer Park, Texas; sisters and brothers-in-law, Faye and Bob Hamilton of Spring, Texas, Dene and Lee Courtney of Arlington Heights, Illinois, and Bettie and Pablo Paredes of Livingston, Texas; sisters-in-law, Mary Nettles, Barbara Nettles, Cathy Richardson, and Rita Nettles all of Livingston, Texas; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
