Funeral services for Barbara Ann Alwell, 72, of Goodrich, Texas, will be held Sunday, May 1, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. in the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel in Livingston, Texas with Bro. Steve Waldrep officiating. Interment will follow in the Peebles Cemetery in Livingston, Texas. Visitation will be held Saturday, April 30, 2016 from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. in the Cochran Funeral Home in Livingston, Texas.

Mrs. Alwell was born on August 9, 1943 in Picher, Oklahoma to parents, George Albert Carey and Edna Marie (Kidd) Carey, and passed away April 29, 2016 in Liberty, Texas. During her life, she was known as "Granny Barbara." Her grandchildren were the love of her life. Her heart and home were always open to the least, the lost and the rejected. Her favorite flower was the sunflower. She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, George Carey Jr.; and nephews, Bobby Lakey Jr. and Vaughn Lakey.

She is survived by her son, Robert Alwell of Atascocita, Texas; daughter, Patricia Fleetwood of Dayton, Texas; sister and brother-in-law, Georgia and Bobby Lakey of Houston, Texas; grandchildren, Teresa and Billy Clements, Kevin and Laura Wiley, Christopher Wiley, Grace Butler, Jennifer and Andrew Simmons, Amanda and Carlos Bosquez, Katie Alwell and Michael and Aiden Alwell; great-grandchildren, Abagail Fleetwood, Abigail Simmons, Lorelei Simmons, Kailie LeBlanc, Lily Bosquez, Layla Bosquez, Catherine, Steven, Sonya, Ethan, and Evan, along with numerous fictive kin to multiple young people, other relatives and friends.
