A family visitation for Barbara Ruth Cowan, 73, of Livingston, Texas, will be held at 10:00 AM, Sunday, January 19, 2014 at Cochran Funeral Home in Livingston, Texas.

Barbara was born on September 13, 1940 in Spurger, Texas and passed away on January 17, 2014 in Lufkin, Texas. She was a housewife/homemaker the majority of her life. She is preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Stannie (Sirmons) Sheffield; husband, Vernon J. Cowan, Sr.; and dear friend, Shirley Roberts.
She is survived by her daughter, Sylvia Schlips; sons, Vernon J. Cowan, Jr. and wife Yolanda and John Wayne Cowan and wife Kim; grandchildren, Chris Schlips, Stephen Ritch, Amy Ellerbe, and Lacey Eaglin; 6 great-grandchildren; along with numerous other relatives and friends.
