IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Barbara Evelyn
Lail
June 15, 1935 – March 24, 2025
It is with heavy hearts and deep gratitude that we announce the passing of our beloved Barbara Evelyn Lail, also known as "Nanny". Born in Hickory, North Carolina, on June 15, 1935. Evelyn's life was one filled with love, strength, and grace. She passed away peacefully surrounded by family on March 24, 2025 to be with our Lord and Savior, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, nurturing, and unwavering devotion to her family.
Evelyn's life was a beautiful love story, beginning with her marriage on August 28, 1955 to the love of her life, Carl Jackson Lail. Together, they built a family grounded in love and loyalty, creating a home where warmth, laughter, and support were always in abundance. Her love for Carl, her son, and her entire family was a love that never wavered, enduring through the years and blossoming into generations of cherished memories.
As a mother, Evelyn's heart was open and nurturing, always willing to lend a listening ear, offer wisdom, and provide unconditional love. She was a pillar of strength to her son, Jackie Lail, and her grandchildren – Jason(Christine), Justin(Cortney), and great-grandchildren – Morgan(Cody), Kourtney (Zach), Kylie (Eddie) and Carter. Great great grandchildren Addison, Alayna, Brantley, and Ziah and former Daughter In law Sheree. Each of them knew her as a guiding light who offered not only affection, but also the strength to persevere and the wisdom to grow.
Her extended family – including her siblings, Sunny Shealy, Paul Shealy(Susan), Dean Shealy(Jan), Elaine Barker(Rene), Jean Turner, and Marilyn Shealy – will forever cherish the bond they shared with Evelyn. She was a sister, a friend, and a constant source of love and laughter.
Evelyn navigated through life with an abundance of faith in God. She was known for her radiant spirit, joyful personality, and her unwavering dependability. Whether she was offering a kind word, a warm hug, or simply her presence, she always made those around her feel loved and accepted. Her generosity knew no bounds, and her heart was as big as her smile. To all who knew her, she was the embodiment of kindness and grace.
Her family finds comfort in the knowledge that Evelyn's love will continue to shine through them. Her legacy is one of love, resilience, and deep familial bonds. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Evelyn is survived by her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, her siblings, and many other relatives and friends who were blessed to be part of her life.
