IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Barbara Jean
Mauney
September 30, 1943 – March 13, 2020
Memorial services for Barbara Jean Mauney, 76, of Shepherd, Texas, will be held Wednesday, March 18, 2020, at 4:00 p.m. in the Cochran Funeral Home in Livingston, Texas with Bro. Lesly Wilkinson and Troy Mauney officiating. Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. until the service begins at 4:00 p.m.
Barbara Jean Emanuel Mauney, age 76, of Shepherd was welcomed into her Heavenly home at 9:10 pm on March 13, 2020. Barbara was born in Pasadena, TX on September 30, 1943 to parents Albert Nathan Emanuel and Minnie Mae Lollar Emanuel. Barbara was the fifth of seven children. She is preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Nathan Eugene (Gene) Emanuel, Elbert Everett (Punkin) Emanuel, Daniel Wade (Buddy) Emanuel,Billy Emanuel, Darlene Crowson and Judy Elaine Walters along with father and mother-in-law, Travis A. Mauney Sr. and Gladene Marie Mauney.
Barbara was a loving and faithful wife for 50 years, 6 months and 27 days to T.A. Mauney Jr. of Shepherd, who she leaves behind to join her in Heaven one day. She is also survived by loving daughters, Kimberly Mauney-Sells of Shepherd, Texas, Heather Mauney-Ward and husband, Josh Ward of Montgomery, Texas; grandchildren, Lauren Elizabeth Bowen of San Marcos, Texas and Jayce Ward of Montgomery, Texas; along with numerous precious nieces, nephews and cousins.
Barbara lost hearing in both ears at the age of 3 due to an infection. She attended the School for the deaf in Edinburg, Texas until the family moved to Shepherd in 1957. She was enrolled at the age of 14 into the 4th grade, with no special accommodations provided to children with disabilities or learning issues. But with hard work and help from her parents and teachers, Barbara graduated from Shepherd High School in 1965. Upon her graduation she went to work at Sam Houston Electric Cooperative in Livingston, TX and retired from SHECO on August 31, 2005. After retiring she enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren and her elderly mother, taking trips with her sister to see what they could of our beautiful country. She also discovered genealogy and spent thousands of hours researching her lineage. She was able to compile a book of documents and pictures that many branches of the family tree have enjoyed. She became the family historian.
She was generous and kind and the love of our Savior shined through her. She always had a beautiful smile on her face. She was a true beauty inside and out; her internal beauty shining one hundred times brighter than the external. A woman full of class and grace to the very end of her earthly life.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers or food that a love offering for ongoing expenses and loss of income during her illness be made to assist T.A. and Kim. Donations can be made by PayPal to kimberlysells72@gmail.com or Venmo @Kim-Sells-2
Honorary Pallbearers are Josh Ward, Jayce Ward, Elbert "Bubba" Emanuel, Bubba Hoffart, Jerry Howard, Shay Johnston, Joel Welch, Travis Wilson, Randy Crowson, James Allen Crowson, Tommy Roane, Randy Chreene, Michael Emanuel, Mark Emanuel, and Jack Pardee.
