A memorial service for Berton F.
"Mike" Hughes, 76, of Livingston, Texas, will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, September 6, 2014 at the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel in Livingston, Texas with Bro. Nick Caveness officiating.
Mr. Hughes was born on February 15, 1938 in Houston, Texas. He married the love of his life, Margaret, on June 15, 1957 and enjoyed 57 years of happiness with her until his passing. He had many passions in life, including fishing and camping, collecting guns and knives, resale shops, and having family get togethers where he could enjoy bar-b-queing for everyone. Mike passed away at home, on August 30, 2014, as he requested, surrounded by his loving wife, children, and grandchildren. He left our world to be with our heavenly father knowing he was loved greatly and will wait with open arms to greet us all in time. You will be truly missed dad, pappaw, and big pappaw.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Berton Franklin Hughes, Sr. and Lora Berniece (Holliday) Hughes.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret Hughes of Livingston, Texas; son, Mike Hughes and wife, Barbara of Baytown, Texas; daughter, Brenda Johnston and husband, Bill of Denton, Texas; grandchildren, Jennifer Cantu of Spring, Texas, Wesley Brock of Livingston, Texas, Michael Hughes, Jr. of League City, Texas, Amanda Babineaux of Corinth, Texas, and Kelli McKenny of Beaumont, Texas; brother, Wayne Hughes of Houston, Texas; sister, Lana Hughes of Houston, Texas; great-grandchildren, Ryan Cantu, Oscar Cantu IV, Mia Cantu, Raven Babineaux, Delton Babineaux, Dylan Hughes, Delanie Hughes, Alina Martin, and Aiden Tompkins; along with numerous other relatives and friends he held dear to his heart.
