Graveside services for Betty Jean "BJ" Oakes, 89, of Onalaska, Texas, will be held Friday, September 21, 2018 at 2:30 p.m. in the Brookside Memorial Park Cemetery in Houston, Texas with Bro. Steve Waldrep officiating.

Mrs. Oakes was born September 15, 1929 in Houston, Texas to parents, Leslie F. Bartine and Anna M. (Turner) Bartine, and passed away September 18, 2018 in Livingston, Texas. She is preceded in death by her parents, and husband, Elijah Little Oakes.

BJ is survived by her numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and many, many friends. During her life, she was a Houston Native and loved all animals.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Polk County SPCA in honor of E.L. and Betty J. Oakes.
