They both grew up in Livingston, Texas, married there and then made their home in Lufkin, Texas, where they reared their two children. After becoming ill, they made their home in Brookeland, Texas, close to their daughter. Betty is also survived by her son, Rayburn Hance and daughter-in-law, Tina of Lufkin; daughter, Cecily Bridges and son-in-law, Randy of Brookeland; two grandsons, Marshall Grantham Hance and Morgan Trevor Hance of Lufkin, whom she adored; brother, Henry Birdell Ogden of Colmesneil; four sisters, Fannie Pearl Holden of San Antonio, Brenda Kay Kelso and Ella Mae Smelley, both of Livingston, and Ruby Jewel Loftin of Onalaska. She is preceded in death by her parents, John Henry Ogden and Maggie Jewel Johnson Ogden; four brothers, Bertley Riley Ogden, Johnson Curtis Ogden, Charles Lee Ogden and Billy Ray Ogden; three half sisters, Vida Williams, Anna Hunnicutt and Lourena Kitchens; and two half brothers, Frank Ogden and Bordal Pinter Ogden.
Betty enjoyed treasure hunting at garage sales and thrift stores with her daughter, Cecily. She was a devoted Elvis fan all her life. Her grandson Marshall was born on Elvis' birthday and has grown up to assist his dad as an Elvis entertainer along with other grandson, Morgan as their music technician. They use this talent to help raise money, in her honor, for the American Cancer Society.
She was a member of Crossroads Baptist Church in Hudson, Texas, and was a visiting member of Rayburn Baptist Church in Brookeland, Texas. Betty courageously battled brain cancer for almost eight years and was surrounded by the love of her family and friends throughout these years.
Contributions in her honor can be made to Lakes Area Hospice, Jasper, Texas or Cancer Care Co-payment Assistance Foundation online.
