Born Betty Juandine Merritt, in Jacksonville, Texas and passed away at the age of 93 in San Marcos, Texas.  She was one of nine children. Four of whom are still living; Janice Musick of San Marcos, Texas, Charlene Porter of Marion, NC., Roy Merritt of Bullard, Texas., and Roger Merritt of Kansas City, Mo.

She is also survived by daughter Cynthia Tatum and her husband David of Rosanky, Texas., son Randy Fields of San Marcos, Texas; granddaughter, Astacia Cole of Austin; great grandchildren, Isaiah, Staria, and Simon Cole, all of Austin. She also leaves behind a large extended family of nieces and nephews whom see also loved very much.

Betty had a long career in banking and retired from MCorp. She was an avid golfer and active in her church.

Betty was married for 43 years to Walt Fields until he passed in 1992. Five years later she married Orville Pruitt. They were married until his death in 2011.

In 2013 she moved to the San Marcos area to be near her family where she lived independently until her death. She was a great inspiration and role model and will be missed by all who knew her. We wish her love on her final journey.

Private memorial to be held and ashes interred at Carlisle Cemetery next to Walt Fields at a later date.
