Graveside services for Beverly Denise Burkholder, 70, of Houston, Texas will be held Saturday, August 4, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. in the Magnolia Cemetery in Onalaska, Texas with Bro. Steve Waldrep officiating. Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. until the service begins at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 4, 2018.

Mrs. Burkholder was born March 1, 1948 in Baytown, Texas to parents, J.D. Collier and Myrtle Lee (Carpenter) Collier, and passed away July 31, 2018 in Houston, Texas. During her life, she met her husband, Gaylon, while working at the Methodist Hospital. It was with Gaylon that she lived happily with 40 years of marriage. She spent her years working from home as a medical transcriptionist. Denise was always there to care for her daughter and take her to Girl Scouts as an assistant troop leader. She was a wonderful wife, mother, nana, and friend. Denise enjoyed solving crimes and watching criminal solving crime shows. Her favorite pastimes included: spending time with her grandchildren, listening to George Straight, and playing Yahtzee and Phase 10. She is preceded in death by her parents; and son, Derek Smallwood.

She is survived by her husband, Gaylon Burkholder of Houston; daughter, Jennifer Mangum and Ron of Cypress; grandsons, Cameron Mangum and Michael Mangum both of Cypress; and granddaughters, Emily Mangum of Cypress and Kaitlynn Smallwood of Magnolia; along with numerous other relatives and friends.
