Memorial services for Billie Joe Bulak, 73, of Livingston, Texas, will be held Saturday, August 22, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., at the Trinity Pines Baptist Church in Trinity, Texas.

Billie Bulak, born on May 19, 1953, in Bastrop, Texas, passed away peacefully at home, in Livingston, Texas, on July 16, 2026, with his beloved wife, Charlotte, by his side.

Billie spent many years working for Swiftex Furniture Manufacturing, where he was known as a dedicated and dependable employee. During the last ten years of his career, he worked for Bastrop ISD as a groundskeeper, where his strong work ethic and willingness to serve others continued until his retirement.

On June 14, 1989, he married Charlotte and, in doing so, united two families. Billie brought two children, Misty and Cameron, into the marriage, and Charlotte brought six, Kay, Linda, Sarah, Paula, Bonnie and Benjamin, creating a family of eight. From that day forward, Billie became “Papa” to a growing family that would eventually include grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and countless cherished memories. He faithfully honored the vows he made to Charlotte, standing by her side for more than 37 years, until death did them part.

Billie never shied away from hard work. If you knew him, you probably saw him mowing the yard, pulling weeds, digging holes, planting flowers, building gardens, or bringing to life whatever Charlotte dreamed up. If she asked him to do something, he did it without hesitation. He didn’t just provide for his family—he showed his love through every project he completed and every quiet act of service.

One of the things his family will always remember is that no one ever left his home without hearing, “I love you, and be careful going home.” Those simple words became a tradition and a lasting reminder of how deeply he cared, even if he didn’t always express it with grand displays of affection.

Billie had a reputation for being a little grumpy, and he would probably be the first to admit it. But those who truly knew him understood that beneath the gruff exterior was a tender, generous heart. He appreciated every visit, every helping hand, and every small kindness shown to him. His love for his family ran deep, even if he didn’t always put it into words.

He was much more than a stepfather. He became “Papa”—a title he earned through years of unwavering love, loyalty, and commitment. He found great joy in watching the family grow through each new generation. His greatest legacy is not found in the gardens he planted or the projects he built, but in the family, he loved so fiercely and the life he shared with Charlotte.

Though his family will miss his familiar words, his steady presence, and yes, even his grumpy moments, they find comfort in knowing how blessed they were to have him. Billie Bulak will always be remembered as a devoted husband, hardworking provider, loving father, cherished Papa, and a man whose quiet acts of love left a lasting mark on everyone who knew him.

Billie is preceded in death by his parents, Stanley Bulak and Sally (Lunday) Bulak; daughter, Kay Holland; son-in-law, Doug Futschik; sister, Betty Bulak; and brother, Harold Bulak.

He is survived by his loving wife, Charlotte Bulak of Livingston, Texas; son, Cameron Bulak and April of Bryan, Texas; daughter, Misty Bulak of Houston, Texas; daughter, Linda Hilton and Jim of Livingston, Texas; daughter, Sarah Futschik of Flatonia, Texas; daughter, Paula Graves and Todd of Dickinson, Texas; daughter, Bonnie Reeves and Michael of Huntsville, Texas; son, Benjamin Daugherty and Kayla of Alema, Wisconsin; son-in-law, Jerry Holland of Coldspring, Texas; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild; brothers, Stanley Bulak Jr., Howard Bulak, and Joseph Bulak all of Bastrop, Texas; sister, Phyliss Gonzales and Gonzalo of Bastrop, Texas; sister, Sally Barnes of Bastrop, Texas; sister, Linda Ball of Austin, Texas; and sister, Mary Rook of Florida; along with numerous other relatives and friends.

He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
