Graveside services for Billie Elizabeth Smith, 91, of Livingston, Texas, will be held Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in the Forest Hill Cemetery in Livingston, Texas with Bobby Brame officiating.
Billie Elizabeth Brame Smith was born on February 2, 1924 in Onalaska, Texas to William S. Brame and Annie Barden Brame. She had three sisters Geraldine Brame, Faye O'Grady, Annabel Stevenson and two brothers Ray and James Brame. She is survived by her son William Anthony "Tony" Jernigan and wife Melissa of Livingston. Her daughters Terri Ann Thomason and husband Clifton of Houston, Teresa Louise Eckard and husband Jim of Glendale, Arizona. There are nine grandchildren numerous great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was a lifelong native of Polk County graduating in 1941 from Livingston High School, (her diploma was signed by her father, William S. Brame, who was president of the school board). She was in Dramatics 1941, LHS Band 1938-41, Annual staff 1940-41 and the H.E. Club.
She was involved in many volunteering activities, the Livingston PTA, Future Farmers of America, the Polk County Youth rodeo association, several Queens contest, the Forestry Festival Exposition Committee, the Dogwood Festival and she made many tuna fish and pimento cheese sandwiches for the Little League Baseball and High School football game concession stands.
She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution since 1972, the Garden Club, Pilot Club, her bridge club, VFW Auxiliary League and American Legion Auxiliary past secretary, treasurer and executive committee. She received a 42 year appreciation award for her dedicated service from the American Legion auxiliary unit 312 and a Citation Recognition for Meritorious services. She was an avid golfer and a member of the LLPGA, (made a hole in one 3 times).
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Livingston and ordained as a Deacon in 2006.
Her graveside service will be held on Wednesday December 30th
