Funeral services for Billy Frank Sylestine, 65, of the Alabama-Coushatta Indian Reservation in Livingston, Texas, will be held Monday, May 15, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. in the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel in Livingston, Texas with Frank Aragon officiating. Interment will follow in the Alabama-Coushatta Indian Reservation Cemetery Livingston, Texas. Visitation will be held Sunday, May 14, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Cochran Funeral Home in Livingston, Texas.

Billy Frank Sylestine was born on August 9, 1951 on the Alabama-Coushatta Reservation in Livingston, Texas and passed away on May 11, 2017 in Conroe, Texas. He is preceded in death by his mother, Susanna Sylestine; sister, Avie Alec; and grandparents, Frank W. and Frances Sylestine.

Mr. Sylestine was an original member of the Alabama-Coushatta Fire Department, Unit 3. He was very active in baseball and softball and was a long time coach for the Reservation little league team. Billy retired from the Alabama-Coushatta Maintenance Department in 2008 after 19 years of employment. His other work interests included construction, Texas Forest Service, National Park Service and gas plant refinery for Penzoil. He always took pride in his craftsmanship.

Billy enjoyed traveling with his family and friends, hunting, fishing, camping, gardening and was always rooting for the LSU Tigers softball and the Texans football teams. He loved watching his kids and grandkids playing ball and other activities. He was always there to push them all to do their very best in everything. No matter what, he would want them to continue doing their very best.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Myra Sylestine, of Livingston, Texas; sons, Willo Sylestine and Cheryl of Livingston, Texas, Reggie Sylestine and Denise of Orange, Texas; daughter, Allison Poncho and Eldon of Livingston, Texas; son, Frank Sylestine and Rashyal of Livingston, Texas; grandchildren, Taylor Thompson and Clansia Castellanos, Morgan Poncho, Brendan Sylestine, Drew Poncho, Koral Sylestine, Elizabeth Ketchens, Julianna Sylestine, Isabel Sylestine, Bart Sylestine, Karmen Sylestine; great-grandchildren, Hunter and Gunner Thompson; sisters, Frances Battise and Sharon Miller; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Pallbearers: Carlos Bullock, Rodman Sylestine, Trey Flores, Elliott Abbey, Tobin Alec, Ryan Alec, Bruce Battise and Chad Alec.
