Funeral services for Bob R. Pate, 86, of Livingston, Texas, will be held Monday, January 10, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. in the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel in Livingston, Texas with Bro. Brian Waddell officiating. Interment will follow in the Restland Memorial Park Cemetery in Livingston, Texas. Visitation will be held Sunday, January 9, 2022, from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m., in the Cochran Funeral Home.
Bob was born and raised in Isola, Mississippi and after finishing high school, he entered the Army and served in the Armed Security Agency (ASA), stationed on the northern most island of Hokkaido, Japan. He received an early discharge to begin classes at the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss) in 1956 on the GI Bill. After receiving his college degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1960, he went to work with Transcontinental Gas Company (TRANSCO) until 1974. Through the years, he worked for several different engineering companies in Houston, Texas, the last being with Universal Ensco as one of the Executive Vice Presidents. After retiring in 2000 from Universal, Bob continued to do consulting work until 2010.
In 2000, he and his former wife, Frances Pate (deceased), moved to Livingston, Texas from Jersey Village, where they built their retirement home. After moving, he worked at his beloved "Tree Farm" in Segno, Texas, where he enjoyed working "in the trees" on his John Deere tractor until the end.
In 2002, Bob met his current wife, Deborah, in Vidor, Texas while visiting friends. That same year they were married and was married 19 years upon his death.
Survivors include his wife, Deborah (Hillhouse) Pate, formerly of Lafayette, Louisiana; stepson, Scott Fitzgerald and wife, Maine; sister, Melanie Pate Holcomb of Acworth, Georgia; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Samuel Ray (S.R.) and Della A. Pate; first wife, Frances A. Pate; sister, Mary Annice "Bo" Stewart; and brother, Dr. Samuel "Ray" Pate Jr.
Pallbearers will be Scott Firzgerald, Nash Stewart, Lee Hon, Corky Hillhouse, Mike Cain, and Jerry Bowen.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
