Obituary

Bonnie Jo Johnson Luce Williford 75 of Goodrich passed away March 24, 2009 in Livingston. Funeral services were held Thursday March 26, 2009 in the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Tom Owens officiated.

She was born August 3, 1933 in El Paso, Texas to parents Vernon A. Johnson and Pricilla McClure. She moved to Polk County in 1952. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Harrel Williford, son Robert Dean Luce and daughter Carmen Joleen Luce.

Bonnie attended public schools in Texas, California, and Louisiana. After graduating in 1964 from Cleveland School of Vocational Nursing as valedictorian, she worked for Polk Co. Hospital, the office of Dr. T.L. Gardner, and Livingston Convalescent Center for a total of almost 40 years. Bonnie was also a longtime member of The Licensed Vocational Nursing Association of Texas, serving as state president from 1980 - 1982. She served as the president of the Polk County Cancer Society and Director of Polk County Red Cross. She also was a longtime member of the Goodrich First Baptist Church.

She is survived by her children Medford Dale Luce and wife Denise of Arkansas City, KA., Kathie Sweeten and husband Levearl of San Antonio, daughter in law Edna Luce of Conroe, and adopted daughter Barbara Rivers of Holiday Lake Estates, sister Verdean Risinger of Lufkin.

She is also survived by her grandchildren Chad Sweeten, Jennifer Sweeten, Emmitt Sweeten and wife Jessica, Jessie Luce and wife Rhonda, Cheri Hammond and husband Phillip, Tina Pride and husband Brandon, and Mindi Clark and husband Steve, Heather Hammond Rash, Jimmy Hammond and wife Mary, great grandchildren Katye Shinn, Kendall Washington, Jacob Luce, Lillie Luce, twins Emmitt and Desiree Sweeten, Olivia Pride and Noah Pride, Savanna Rose Luce, Michael Rash, Emily Hammond, and Josh Hammond.

Serving as pallbearers were Chad Sweeten, Emmitt Sweeten, Steve Clark, Ed Risinger, Billy Risinger, Billy Risinger, Roy Risinger, Patrick Risinger, and Jacob Luce. Honorary pallbearer will be Jason Risinger, Phillip Hammond, Jessie Luce, and Brandon Pride.

In lieu of flowers the family has ask that donations be made to the First Baptist Church of Goodrich or Hospice Care Of The Southwest.
