Brett Tyler Sylestine, a citizen of the Alabama-Coushatta Tribe of Texas, passed away on December 31, 2020 in Livingston, Texas. He was born on August 20, 1984, to Sabrena Lewis Kemmell and Thomas Mason Sylestine.

Brett attended Baytown Independent School District, and graduated from Ross Sterling High School, Baytown, Texas. He was a member of the school's Marching Band where he played the trumpet. He enjoyed music of all genres, comedy shows, and was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys.

He was married to Jesica Sylestine, with one son born to their marriage, Gabriel Alan Sylestine, of Goodrich, Texas.

Brett was preceded in death by his parents. He leaves behind his son, Gabriel; brothers, Brandon Gerardi of Orlando, Florida, and Trevor Colt Sylestine of Livingston, Texas; grandmother, Imajoy Singleton of Livingston, Texas; and niece, Rose Marie Sylestine of Livingston, Texas; along with a host of family and friends.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at 11:30 a.m. in the Alabama-Coushatta Reservation Cemetery with Rev. Joe John officiating. Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 13, 2021 from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. in the Cochran Funeral Home Cemetery.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Kirk Battise, Dustin Battise, Eric Adams, Jordan Alec, Jonathan Richard and Wesley Cohen, who will escort Brett to his resting place at the Alabama-Coushatta Reservation Cemetery.
