Carol Vuchetich, 79, of Cold Spring, TX, passed away on February 20, 2022 of complications due to lung cancer. She is survived by her loving family: son Marc, husband Jim, brother Russ, and stepdaughter Katherine.

Carol was born on May 24, 1942 to Margaret Magdalen (Kondjocka) McCarthy and Russell DeSailes McCarthy Sr. in Minneapolis, MN. She graduated from St. Michael High School in Minneapolis in 1960 and moved to Houston in 1971. She attended the University of Houston and graduated with a master's degree in fine arts in 1989.

A master photographer who cared deeply for the underprivileged, Carol often used her work to help and inspire others. For more than 20 years, she taught art classes to blind and visually impaired students at the Lighthouse of Houston's adult day program. In 2002, the Lighthouse honored her with a meritorious service award in recognition of her years of dedication to her students. In addition, several of her photographs have been displayed at the Museum of Fine Arts in Houston and are part of the permanent collection. Carol was also a master gardener who loved animals, writing, spending time with friends, and making frequent trips to Montana, which became a second home.
