Services for Carolyn Taylor, 74, of Livingston, Texas, will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 13, 2024, at Schwab City Baptist Church with Bro. David Jones officiating. Interment will follow at Peebles Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 12, at Cochran Funeral Home in Livingston, Texas.

Carolyn was born Sept. 11, 1949, and passed away at her home on Jan. 6, 2024.

A 1968 graduate of Livingston High School, she married Kelton Taylor in December of that same year. Over the next three decades, she lived in several locations around the state, including Baytown, Houston, Corpus Christi, Refugio, Conroe, Jacksonville and Midland before returning to Livingston as Kelton neared the end of his career with Exxon.

Carolyn was an accomplished musician who played the piano and organ for many churches throughout the years. She gained expertise in many crafting disciplines and enjoyed cooking, often blessing her friends and family with the finished products of her labors in these fields. She served as a volunteer in many different capacities in her churches and communities for the duration of her life. Her greatest accomplishment, however, came in the role of "Granny" to her five grandchildren.

Carolyn is preceded in death by her parents, John D. and Jewel Nelson Reeves.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Kelton; her daughter Wendy and husband Stephen Purdy of Merritt Island, Fla.; her son Kelton Jr. "Bojo" and wife Donna Taylor of Livingston, Texas; her five grandchildren Kaitlyn, Dylan, Taylor, Holly and Nathan; her brother John "Buddy" and wife Pat of Atlantic Beach, Florida; and numerous brothers- and sisters-in law, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
