Obituary
Funeral services for Catherine Bedwell, 86, of Trinity, Texas, will be held Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. in the Lakeway Baptist Church located at 12748 FM 356 in Trinity, Texas. Interment will follow in the Carlisle Cemetery in Trinity, Texas. Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 19, 2016 in the Cochran Funeral Home in Livingston, Texas.
Catherine Bedwell was born to Alma Hartsfield and Milton Clark on July 2, 1929 in Heber Springs, Arkansas. She passed away on Saturday, January 16, 2016 at CHI St. Luke Hospital in Lufkin after a short illness.
Catherine married Willie Bedwell on August 21, 1946 in Heber Springs, Arkansas. Catherine and her family moved to Houston, Texas in 1954. While there, they were blessed with three lovely daughters. In 1978, they purchased property in Carlisle and spend numerous weekends there. In 1990, Catherine and Willie retired to Carlisle.
Catherine was a full time wife, mother, grandmother, great-grand and great-great grandmother. A smile will light up her face when any of her family will come to visit. Everyone including the neighborhood children called her Nanny. She never missed a grandchild's event – dance recites, volleyball or baseball game with no regard as to how far she had to travel. Kolin Snider is 13 months old is of her great-great-grandson that she had to see. She went to Kingwood at least weekly to get a baby fix.
She was known for her Nanny breakfast. One of those large breakfasts that is always more than you can eat, but had to have a taste of everything. Everyone's favorite was her chocolate gravy. Some of the grandchildren would call ahead and ask for chocolate gravy for lunch or dinner, it didn't matter, it was that good.
With her love for children, Catherine worked in the church nursery and vacation bible school. She also helped with the fundraising at 356 VFD, baking cakes and pies for auction or to feed the workers.
Catherine will be missed by many and many more that never will get the precious change to meet her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Bedwell of 68 years; daughter – Glenda McKay; grandson – Jefferson Dale Forisha; brother – Waymon Pearson and her parents.
She is survived by a five generation family, including her daughters, Charlotte Brokmeyer of Trinity, Texas and Patsy Forisha and husband, James of Trinity, Texas; sister, Betty Yarborough of Rosebud, Arkansas; grandchildren, Michelle Smith, Penny McManus and husband, Shane, Janise Jurica and husband, Rick, Christie Snider and husband, Gary; step-grandchildren, Cory McManus and Casey McManus; great-grandchildren, Dakota Caves, Jessica Jurica, Justin Jurica, Brittney Snider, Ashlynn Snider, and Darci Snider; great-great grandchild, Kolin Snider; step great-great grandchildren, Amelia Wallis and Emery McManus; along with numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
