Funeral services for Charles Ray Parten, 89, of Livingston, Texas, will be held Saturday, February 13, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. in the Midway Community Church in the Midway Community in Polk County, Texas with Bro. Gary Adams and Bro. Robert Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the Midway Cemetery in Livingston, Texas. Visitation will be held Saturday, February 13, 2021, from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m., before the service begins, in the Midway Community Church.
Mr. Parten was born March 31, 1931 in the Midway Community in Polk County, Texas to parents, A.C. Parten and Pearl (Polk) Parten, and passed away February 7, 2021 in Conroe, Texas. He was a founding member of the Midway Community Church. He was born and raised in the Midway Community and graduated from Kirby High School in Woodville, Texas. After graduating he moved to Pasadena and worked for Champion Papers for 20 years. He moved back to Polk County before moving to Saudi Arabia while working for Aramco. He then returned to the Midway Community to retire and lived independently until his time of death. He loved Christ, his family, and working with millwright friends over the years. Mr. Parten is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Stella Parten; and sisters, Jewell Hunter, Mildred Dickens, and Wilma Adams.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Bob and Linda Parten of Houston, Texas; son and daughter-in-law, Duane and Liz Parten of Angleton, Texas; grandchildren, Ben Parten, Bethany Dublo, Megan and Jordan Fornes, Jim and Shannon Parten, and Derek Parten; special friends, LaJohna and Jim Newbould; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
