Obituary

Funeral services for Charles Kenneth Widner, 81, of Livingston, Texas, will be held Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. in the First United Pentecostal Church in Livingston, Texas with Pastor Gerald Morris and John Chrisley officiating. Interment will be held in the Barge Cemetery in Zavalla, Texas at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 8, 2017. Military Honors will be provided by Ft. Hood, Texas. Visitation will be held from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 7, 2016 in the Cochran Funeral Home in Livingston, Texas.

Mr. Widner was born August 5, 1935 in Achol, Texas to parents, Thomas Alvin Widner Sr. and Zena (Williams) Widner, and passed away on March 3, 2017 in Livingston, Texas. During his life, he worked for Texas Eastman Transmission as a welder from 1957-1970. He also worked as a painter for Local #130 in Houston from 1970-1985 and Goose Creek ISD from 1985-1997. He proudly served his country in the United States Army and was a member of the VFW Post #912. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Burton Widner; and sisters, Lollie Easley, Myre Gipson, Maxie Nabors, Verla Eastman, Minnie Hawks, Ima Jean Roberts, and Johnie Brimberry.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Widner of Livingston, Texas; son, Charles Kenneth Widner Jr. and wife, Cindy of Mont Belvieu, Texas; daughter, Kay Lynn Byford and husband, Mark of Baytown, Texas; sister, Zella Smith of Baytown, Texas; brother, Thomas Alvin Widner Jr. of Angleton, Texas; mother of Charles' children, Shirley Widner of Baytown, Texas; grandsons, Chris Widner and wife, Kim of Mont Belvieu, Texas, and Blake Byford of Mont Belvieu, Texas; granddaughters, Jayme Curry and husband, Sean of Mont Belvieu, Texas, and Lauren Byford of Baytown, Texas; great-grandchildren, Kash Widner, Cullen Widner, Lane Widner, Emma Curry, and Delaney Curry all of Mont Belvieu, Texas; along with numerous other relatives and friends.
