Funeral services for Clarence Oran Floyd, Jr., 76, of Livingston, Texas, will be held Monday, June 13, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. in the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel in Livingston, Texas. Interment will follow at 3:00 p.m. in the Rusk County Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Henderson, Texas. Visitation will be held Sunday, May 12, 2022, from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m., in the Cochran Funeral Home.
Mr. Floyd was born on August 12, 1945 in Church Hill, TX to Clarence O. and Annie Laura Floyd and passed away Thursday, June 9, 2022 at Pine Ridge Health Care in Livingston.
Clarence was preceded in death by his parents, son Christopher Floyd, sister Mary Ruth Parris, and sister Francys Costlow Jones.
Clarence was raised in the East Texas countryside of Rusk County and started working as a young boy to help support his family after his father was lost during World War II. After high school graduation, he attended Kilgore College where he studied technology.
Clarence had a long and varied career spanning Kroger, Brookshire Brothers, Mission Life Insurance, and Polk County Appraisal District. He enjoyed extensive travel and vacations with friends. One of his favorite trips was when he had the opportunity and honor to visit the military cemetery in Belgium where his father was buried. He also enjoyed cruises with his "golden girls." Clarence was a longtime member of Central Baptist Church. He was known for his sense of humor, kind heart, community spirit, and outgoing personality. The apple of his eye was his grandson Joe, who knew him as Popsy.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Jo Ann Floyd; son, Matthew Floyd of Philadelphia, PA; daughter, Jennifer Floyd of Milwaukee, WI; grandson, Joseph Dean Floyd of Milwaukee, WI; brother Johnny Silvey of Henderson, TX. Also surviving are seven nieces and nephews, along with a host of close friends and dear classmates from Henderson High School class of 1963.
Pallbearers were Scott Martin, Mack Ross, Kevin Snook, Chad Hill, Trey Martin, and Michael Griffiths
Honorary Pallbearers were George Harrell, Mike Parker, Wesley Johnson, Bill Galloway, Randy Crow, Corky Cochran, Bennie Ray Marsh, Neal Voytek, Jimmy Wooten, Wayne Harris, and Roger Parker.
A special friend in recent years was Chaplin Anne Welch at CHI St. Luke's - The Woodlands Hospital, who provided priceless comfort and support to the whole family.
