Obituary

Clariece Parker Preston was born September 7, 1926 in Ollie, Texas to parents, Edgar Clark Parker and Mittie Ollie (Rice) Parker, and departed this life on May 16, 2016 in Prescott, Arkansas. She is preceded in death by her parents; son, Richard Preston; grandson, David McMichael; and sisters, Pauline Bankston and Willouise Hawkins.

She is survived by her daughter and son in law, Ronald and Janet Huett of Emmet, Arkansas; sister, Mary Evelyn Batcheldar of Enid, Oklahoma; grandaughter, Kimberly Grimes and Kevin of Emmet, Arkansas; grandson, Aaron Huett and Jessica of Blevins, Arkansas; granddaughter, Sarah Dildine and Kevin of Hughes Springs, Texas; and 6 great grandchildren: Hunter and Maggie Grimes, Avie and Hampton Huett and Jasper and Collier Dildine and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends. She is also survived by her beloved cat, Pooh.

Clariece will be remembered as a woman of steel wrapped in a sweet, unassuming and as she would say, fluffy, package. In her mid-40s she found herself starting life over; she learned to drive, bought a car, entered the workforce and began supporting herself and her son, Richard. Over the next 45 years she would build a life for herself that anyone would be proud of.

Upon retirement in 1999, she moved to Emmet, Arkansas to be close to her daughter and grandchildren. This was perhaps the happiest period in her life, she loved spending time with her daughter and watching her grandchildren as they married, started careers and had families of their own.

Clariece loved bird watching, animals, Murder She Wrote, bluebonnets, teapots, mystery & western novels, coffee and George Strait. She also had a great love for crossword puzzles, even when her mind faded, she still could successfully complete the toughest of crossword puzzles. She will be remembered by those who loved her for her sweet smile, ornery personality, infectious laugh, amazing divinity candy, chocolate pie and chocolate cake.

A private graveside service will be held on Friday, May 20, 2016 at Rice Cemetery in Leggett, Texas. A special thanks to the staff at Hillcrest Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Prescott, Arkansas for their care and love during her final years.
