Clyde C. ""Bubba"" Watson was born the son of the late Putt and Ruth Watson on November 7, 1946, and went to be with his Lord on Dec. 3, 2011.
He is survived by his wife, Linda and daughter and son-in-law, Becky and Ben Bell of Kingwood and daughter and daughter and son-in-law, Tina and Lain Gay of Kingwood; granddaughter, Ruthie Grace Gay of Kingwood; grandsons, Garrett Lain Gay and Brady Watson Bell, all of Kingwood, Texas; sister, Linda Banks of Livingston, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Allen and Debra Nelson, and Ricky and Marcey Nelson, all of Livingston; and many loving nieces and nephews; and a wonderful host of friends.
He was a life-long resident of Livingston, Texas. He was a graduate of the LHS class of 1965. He graduated from Sam Houston State University in 1970 with a Bachelor' Degree in Business Administration.
There was never any doubt that Bubba would pursue a career in the automobile business. Growing up in a small town in the 50s, he was driving at the age of 9, ( supposedly sitting on a stack of books ) and running over to pick up his friend Judson; or hopping onto a horse with his buddy Jimmy, taking off to downtown and promising their parents they?ÇÖd be back by supper time. Those were the days. Even before graduating Bubba joined his father as a wrecker driver for Putt Watson Motor Company. Starting in mechanics, Bubba quickly learned to pick up on every aspect of anything on wheels and that love affair never ended.
In 1968, he married his high school sweetheart and they celebrated 43 years of marriage and two devoted daughters. Bubba soon began in sales, and in 1976 he joined his Dad in building a new dealership on Highway 59 South. When his father suffered a stroke just six years later, Bubba became the dealer for the next 24 years and celebrated the company' 50th year in 2001. During his 29 years as dealer, he treated his employees and customers as family and friends. He gave meaning to honesty and integrity in the car business. In 2006, he sold his business to Brian Bounds Auto Plex. He and many of his former employees joined Bounds and enjoyed a successful and meaningful relationship with a new found family.
Bubba was known for his quick wit and unlimited sense of humor. An avid lover of all country music, he could rattle off any lyric almost before the song began. He enjoyed hunting and was a member of the same beloved hunting club ""the Walding Club"" for over 56 years; forming friendships and brotherhood beyond defining. He enjoyed summer trips to the beach with his family as long as he had a three wheeler; four-wheeler; or his mule (that' the one with wheels of course). He lived his life as a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend to all of those who loved him dearly. He never cared for traveling. He always said, ""I?ÇÖve gotten everything I need right here in Polk County."" Titles and pomp and circumstance were not important to him. He always rooted for the ""underdog"", he said. His personality filled a room and he will leave a void in the lives of those who loved him so much.
