Obituary

Dale Alton Rockford, known as Rocky to everyone, was born on February 8, 1927 in Battle Creek, Nebraska. Rocky embarked upon a career in the US Army. He proudly served in World War II, two tours in Korea and two tours in Vietnam. He was on call for the Bay of Pigs. Rocky has a box full of medals for his service to America. After World War II ended Rocky met his German wife, Edie. Edie is from Berlin, Germany. They were married for 65 years, upon his untimely demise. The couple had one daughter, Pamela Lynn Rockford, a retired hematologist.

After 20 years of serving our country, Rocky retired from the military. He accepted a position with the Federal Reserve Bank in Houston, Texas. When he retired from the Fed, he and his wife moved to their second home in Livingston, Texas.

Rocky and Edie were very active with VFW Post #8568. Rocky' stone marker is prominently displayed at the front of the VFW. He was a Honor Guard for many years. Rocky was known by his friendly smile and the ease in which he could have a conversation with anyone. You would often hear him singing or humming the song, ""Have I Told You Lately That I Love You.""

Rocky and his family lived in many regions. His friends are all over the globe.

His favorite past time was to travel in his R.V. He was a member of the Escapees Club in Livingston, Texas. Long retired from the military, yet you could always see your reflection in his freshly polished boots.

Rocky wants everyone to celebrate his life, share stories, and rejoice that he is now with our Heavenly Father. He asked for no funeral.
