Funeral services for David George Manning, 83, of Livingston, Texas, will be held Monday, March 4, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. in the Blanchard Baptist Church in Livingston, Texas with Bro. Fred Alford officiating. Military Honors will be provided by VFW Post #8568. Interment will follow in the Magnolia Cemetery in Onalaska, Texas. Visitation will be held Sunday, March 3, 2019, from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m., in the Cochran Funeral Home in Livingston, Texas.
Mr. Manning was born April 2, 1935 in Nacogdoches, Texas, to parents, Willie Manning and Charlie (Christian) Manning, and passed away March 1, 2019 in Livingston, Texas. He is preceded in death by his parents; and wife of 19 years, Linda Carol Manning.
He is survived by his son, David W. Manning of Bakersfield, California; daughter, Debra L. Jackson and husband, Vernon of Livingston, Texas; daughter, Lisa C. Turner and husband, Ernest of Canyon Lake, Texas; daughter, Carolyn Russell and husband, Bobby of Alvin, Texas; son, Toby Willis of Richmond, Texas; son, Kenneth Willis of Kentucky; daughter, Michelle Willis; 20 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren; along with numerous other family and friends.
During his life, David served his country in the United States Navy. David had been a very active member of Blanchard Baptist Church for many years, and made very many wonderful friends. He was a very loving, giving man who was very dedicated to witnessing for Christ. He was truly devoted to witness for the Lord and serve God in everything he did. He was always asking folks in public, "Do you know the Lord as your Savior?" He shared Christ with just about anyone, anywhere. He was truly concerned with wanting others to know Christ. He just wanted to bring as many people as he could to Christ, so they could know the joy of the Lord. In his spare time, David loved to go fishing and help others.
