David Paul Lima

David Paul Lima passed away on August 29, 2026, at his home in Onalaska, Texas. David was a one-of-a-kind person who lived life in his own way and was never afraid to say exactly what was on his mind. He was blunt, straightforward, and honest—sometimes whether you were ready to hear it or not. But beneath that honesty was a deeply caring and loving man who loved his family more than anything.

David was funny, outgoing, caring, and loving. He had a personality that could fill a room and a way of making people laugh and creating memories wherever he went. If you knew David, you knew you were going to get the truth from him. He didn’t sugarcoat things, and he didn’t pretend to be anyone other than himself.

Above all, David loved his family. His children and grandchildren were incredibly important to him, and he cherished the time he was able to spend with them. Being a father and grandfather was one of the most meaningful parts of his life. He also treasured his relationships with his siblings, nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

David also had a special place in his heart for his dog, Bug. Bug wasn’t simply a pet to David—Bug was family. Their bond was a special part of his everyday life and one of the many things that brought him happiness.

David spent many years working as an insurance agent and business owner through Lima Insurance in Onalaska. Over the years, he met countless people through his work and his life in the community, forming friendships and connections that will remain a part of his legacy.

David wass preceded in death by his parents, father and step-mother, Jody and Geraldine Lima; and mother Judy and stepfather Bob Stivanson.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his partner, Estella “Cissy” Wakat; son, Christopher Lima; grandchildren, Layla Lima and partner Jeffery, Alyssa Lima, Hunter Lima, Isabella Lima, Aydah Mae Lynn, and Kylee Davies; Siblings, Steven Lima and wife Lori, Jody Lima and wife Debbie and Danny Lima and wife Cindy and sister, Tina Hannah and husband Jim

Along with many nieces, nephews family and friends who loved him dearly.

Pallbearers: Chris, Danny, Steve, Jody, Hunter, and Tyler.

David will be remembered for his sense of humor, his outgoing personality, his straightforward nature, and, most of all, the love he had for the people who meant the most to him.

He wasn’t perfect, and he never tried to be. He was simply David—blunt, funny, loving, stubborn, caring, and completely himself. Those who knew him will remember the things he said, the laughs he shared, the memories he created, and the love he had for his family.

David leaves behind a family who will carry his memory with them, stories that will continue to be told, and a lifetime of memories that can never be replaced.

He was deeply loved, he will be deeply missed, and he will never be forgotten.

A graveside service will be held Sunday, September 6, 2026, at 3:00 p.m., at the Bold Springs Cemetery in Livingston, Texas. Visitation will be held on the day of service, from 1:30-2:30 p.m., at the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel in Livingston, Texas.
