Mrs. Delma Ray Lester, 80, was born on February 1, 1936. She left this earthly life on April 26, 2016. She was preceded in death by her parents, Aaron and Dottie Thornton; husband, Tommy Lester; children, Patsy Watkins, Kimberly Lester, Ray Lester, Dennis Lester, and Tommy Mack Lester; brother, Robert Thornton; grandsons, Joshua Lester and Bruce Lester; and great-granddaughter, Ashlynn Patrick.
Survivors include sisters, Janie Smith, Flo Starling, and Nalda Naley; brother, Lester Thornton; children, Betty Jones and husband, Roy, Joan Pierce, Bryan Lester, Roy Lester and wife, Sharon, Raymond Lester, Callie Etheredge and husband, Henry, Bruce Lester and wife, Sharon, and Robert Lester. Mrs. Lester had 31 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren (give or take a few) and 1 great-great grandson as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Mrs. Lester was a loving and caring soul who had a very unique relationship with each and every one of her family members. She did not limit her family to only members tied by blood, but accepted numerous people into her family. Many people who were not "official" family members referred to her as "Mama Lester" That is her legacy.
