Funeral services for Dennis Wayne "Bubba D" Key Jr., 43, of Livingston, Texas, will be held Thursday, June 17, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. in Cochran Funeral Home Chapel in Onalaska, Texas with Bro. Dennis Hodge officiating. Interment will follow in the Holhausen-Darby Cemetery in Moscow, Texas. Visitation will be held from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 16, 2021 in the Cochran Funeral Home in Onalaska, Texas.
Bubba D was born September 16, 1977 in Houston, Texas to parents, Dennis Wayne Key Sr. and Glenda Ruth (Brogden) Key, and passed away June 13, 2021 in Houston, Texas. He is preceded in death by his father; grandfather, William Eli Key Sr. and grandparents, Thomas and Mary Brogden.
During his life, Bubba served the citizens and community of Onalaska as a firefighter on the Onalaska Volunteer Fire Department for 10 years. He joined the department in 2011 and was quickly elected as Lieutenant in 2012. His natural ability to lead was recognized by his peers and Bubba was elected as a Captain in 2014 and Assistant Chief in 2017.
He is survived by his loving wife of 20 years, Jacklyn Teresa Key of Livingston; son, Trevor Ruthstrom and wife, Ashley of Dayton; daughters, Madison Key and fiancé, Darren Jennings of Onalaska, and Shelby Key of Livingston; granddaughter, Gracie Mae Ruthstrom of Dayton; mother, Glenda Ruth Key of Livingston; and sister, Mary Baxter and husband, Brian of Livingston; along with numerous other family members, and a host of friends.
