Dennis Byrd,
Sr.
February 4, 1945 – December 14, 2023
Dennis Byrd Sr., a son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and a friend, passed away December 14th, 2023. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and deep commitment to both his family and community.
He proudly served in the United States Army, and after his military service, he spent 33 1/2 years serving with the Houston Fire Department. He spent his life selflessly serving and protecting others. His bravery and unwavering commitment to his duty inspired those around him. Beyond his profession, Dennis found joy in simple pleasures, such as golf, fishing and traveling where he could unwind and appreciate life's serene moments with his wife and family.
At the center of his world was his beloved wife, Mary, with whom he shared a lifetime of memories and unwavering companionship. Their love story was a testament to the enduring strength of partnership. Their journey together began 62 years ago; they would have celebrated 60 years of marriage this upcoming July.
Leaving behind a proud and loving family, his wife Mary, son Dennis Byrd, Jr., wife Tracy, and daughter Angela Leonard wife Penny they were not just his children but reflections of his unconditional love, values and principles. His grandchildren Brett-Michael, Kristy-Leigh, Brittany-Ann, Aubrie, Garrett and great-grandchildren Kollin-Michael, Kynnsley-Ann, Julianna-Rose, August-Raine, Luna-Rey'Leigh, Gatlin, Tegan, and Kyle were the joy of his later years. He also leaves behind his brothers Bob & Tom Byrd and their families.
He is preceded in death by his mother Ruth Uilkie and father Pete Uilkie, mother and father in-law Adolph and Martha Krampota.
Dennis will be remembered by his warmth, kindness, and the love he shared with everyone he knew. His legacy lives on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him and love him. May he rest in eternal peace.
