Obituary

Funeral services for Dewayne Blackhawk Abbey, 43, of Humble, Texas, will be held Monday, March 6, 2023 at 2:00 p.m., in the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel in Livingston, Texas with Herbert Johnson, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at the Alabama-Coushatta Indian Reservation Cemetery in Livingston, Texas.  Visitation will be Monday, March 6, 2023 at 1:00 just prior to the funeral in the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel.

Dewayne Blackhawk Abbey was born September 30, 1979 in Houston, Texas to parents John Butler and Kathy Abbey and passed away March 2, 2023 in Humble, Texas.  He is preceded in death by his mother; aunt, Patsy Flores; maternal grandparents, Ross Abbey, Sr. and Etta Mae Abbey; uncle, Stewart Abbey; paternal grandparents, Edward Butler and Donna Butler; uncles, Quinton Butler and Ronald Butler; aunt, Deanna Butler.

Dewayne is survived by his father, John Butler of Houston, Texas; sister, Joanne Langley and husband, Jackson of Livingston; baby sister, Julianne Butler of Houston, Texas; uncles and aunts, Larry Abbey and Diane Thompson of Houston, Texas, Bill Beene and Violene of Livingston, Texas, Ross Abbey, Jr. and Deanna of Livingston, Texas, Quana Easley and Susan of Livingston, Texas, David Butler, Sr. and Donna of Houston, Texas, Brent Butler and Vicky of Austin, Texas; great aunt Christine Poncho and great uncle, James Cody Poncho; along with many, many cousins, other relatives and friends.

Dewayne Blackhawk Abbey was the only son of John and Kathy and lived in Houston, Texas with his family.  He loved superhero movies and Netflix.  He enjoyed being silly and making everyone around him laugh.  Dewayne always greeted everyone he loved with a hug and a kiss and always left a lasting impression on everyone he met and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Mr. Abbey was a member of the Alabama-Coushatta Tribe, Sac-Fox, and Caddo Tribes.  His Indian name was Kee Wa Tha which means Bear Standing.
