Funeral services for Rev. Don Wilson, 79, of Onalaska, Texas will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, January 27, 2017 at the First Assembly of God Church in Onalaska, Texas with Rev. Dennis Land, Rev. Elbert Kinard, and Rev. Cameron Veazey officiating. Interment will begin at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, January 27, 2017 in the Magnolia Cemetery in Dayton, Texas. Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m., Thursday, January 26, 2017 in the Cochran Funeral Home in Onalaska, Texas.
Mr. Wilson was born on July 20, 1937 in Marrero Parrish, Louisiana to parents, Bill Wilson and Fie (Sumrall) Wilson, and passed away on January 24, 2017 in the early morning hours surrounded by his family at his home in Onalaska, Texas. Don proudly served his country in the United States Army at the beginning of the Vietnam War. He also pastored at many churches including the Romayor Assembly of God Church, Trinity Assembly of God Church in Liberty, Texas, First Assembly of God Church in League City, Texas, Imperial Valley Assembly of God Church, First Assembly of God Church in Andrews, Texas and then in the First Assembly of God Church in Onalaska, Texas for 21 years. He is preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Scott Mulkey; son-in-law, John Mulkey; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bill and Dorothy Ripkowski.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Jane Wilson of Onalaska, Texas; son and daughter-in-law, Donnie and Charlotte Wilson of Dayton, Texas; daughter, Connie Mulkey of Onalaska, Texas; brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Bessie May Wilson; sister-in-law, Nancy Richter and husband, Bubba; grandchildren, Holly Davis and husband, Damian of Crosby, Texas, Heather Kratovil and husband, D.J. of Dayton, Texas, and Trey Wilson III and wife, Shelby of Dayton, Texas; great-grandchildren, Jordan Davis, Paige and Rylee Mulkey, Brooke and Nycole Davis, and Kreece Kratovil; great-great grandchild, Christopher Davis; nephews, Chris Connor and girlfriend, Jenn Frazier, and Steven Connor and wife, Michelle; along with numerous other relatives and friends.
