Donald Rogene Eckelman of Livingston, Texas passed away on August 26 th , 2018. Known to most as "Coach," Don was from Houston, Texas where he spent decades teaching and coaching football and basketball at Hartman, Pershing and Sharpstown schools in Houston.
Born to Milton and Ruhvella Eckelman on April 23, 1941, Don attended Milby High School where he was known for his sense of humor and athletic ability and where he met his wife, Audrey. He began his college career at Tyler Junior College, before transferring to the University of Houston, where he played basketball and received his Bachelor of Arts in Education.
Don loved Lake Livingston, where he and the family spent every available weekend and to which he ultimately retired in 1995. When Don wasn't lending a hand with mowing or general upkeep around the neighborhood, he could be found on or by the lake, his faithful dog at his side.
He is survived by his wife of fifty-nine years, his son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Mona, his granddaughters, Andrea and Kayse and her husband, Russell Horton. He is preceded in death by his mother and father, sister Warita, and his eldest son, Kevin.

Services will be held on Friday, August 31 st at the First United Methodist Church in Livingston, Texas at 11 am.
