A Celebration of Life for Doris Gibson Crawford Votaw, 76, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 1, 2017 in the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel in Livingston, Texas with Bro. Joe MacDonald officiating. Interment will take place in the French Cemetery in Kenefick, Texas at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 1, 2017. Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Friday, June 30, 2017 in the Cochran Funeral Home in Livingston, Texas.
Mrs. Votaw, 76, longtime resident of Livingston, Texas passed away unexpectedly Sunday, June 25, 2017 in San Antonio, Texas where she has resided since 2016.
Dora was born September 25, 1940 in Covington, Kentucky to William and Margaret Crawford. She graduated from Spring Branch High School in Houston, Texas and Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas. It was while at college that she met and fell in love with Waymon Ray Votaw, Sr. They married on her college graduation day and were together for 49 years. They enjoyed bowling, bridge, hunting, fishing, watching their beloved Dallas Cowboys and sitting on the porch with a cup of coffee watching the squirrels and wild birds.
Dora is welcomed into heaven by her husband, father, mother, sister Mary Margaret (Peggy) Moran, mother-in-law Hazel Hollerbach and many others who passed before and greet her with loving arms.
Dora is survived by her daughter, Candace Campenni, her husband, Thomas and grandchildren Cary Logan Vailes of Livingston, Texas and Caitlyn Rae Vailes of Salem, Oregon; son Waymon Ray Votaw, Jr., his wife, Teresa and grandchildren Anna Claire and Christian of Sugarland, Texas; step-mother Patricia Crawford of El Paso, Texas; sister Ann McClure and husband David of El Paso, Texas and many more friends and relatives who will surely miss her.
