Dorothy "Lulu" Coker was born October 31, 1924 in Linflat, Texas to parents, Ernest Moody and Lena (Winder) Moody, and passed away peacefully Sunday, January 19, 2014 in the Bradford House in Livingston, Texas. As a young girl her family moved to Polk County, Texas. After marriage she traveled throughout the United States with her husband and family on numerous pipeline jobs but always called Livingston home. She is preceded in death by her husband of 52 years Preacher Coker, and her brother, Dick Moody.
Dorothy truly had a servant's heart and lived her life in devotion to her family, her community, and Calvary United Pentecostal Church. Wearing many different hats as a wonderful and loving mother, grandmother, friend, postal worker, constable, along with cooking and taking care of many throughout the country. She brought laughter to all through some of her notable antics, such as riding her horse up the courthouse stairs, twirling in the Livingston band, mowing highways and pipelines on her Massey Ferguson tractor, and last but not least involving her heart and soul in the political realm to help elect people that would benefit our community. Her smile, laughter, and witty personality have made lasting impressions on many hearts and have entwined endearing memories to many in Polk County. Her greatest legacy left to all, was her unconditional love for her family and friends. She will be forever missed.
She is survived by her daughter: Ann Easton and husband Ron; son: Dennis Coker and wife Martha; grandchildren: Sandi Morris, Chris Easton and wife Jolynn, Shanna Glawson and husband Len, Kari Lewis and husband Jeffery; great grandchildren: Ace Easton, Cooper Morris, Rowdy Glawson, Nathaniel Lewis, Colt Easton, and Paisley Ann Glawson; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends; and last but not least her best friend through life, Helen Campbell.
