Jean liked to say she met the love of her life, Mack, while they were in the same nursery as newborns. They eloped on April 1, 1943 during her senior year of high school, she always said they were "April Fools" that lasted until Mack's death in 2009. Upon graduation from high school, she joined Mack in Florida where he was a photographer in the Merchant Marines. Their travels then took them briefly to New Orleans and upon Mack's discharge from service, they settled near La Porte in Lomax. They built their home themselves and enjoyed gatherings with their many family and friends.

When Mack retired from DuPont, they moved to Dallardsville (Big Sandy), Texas and built their retirement home on thirteen acres that they both loved greatly. They cleared the land, built two ponds, and spent their retirement gardening, and fishing in "Wall's Lake". They loved living in the Piney Woods and hosted their grandsons every summer that they could.

Jean spent the last ten years of her life with her son, David, in Seabrook, Texas and daughter, Jeanne, in Pasadena, Texas. She enjoyed seeing her many grandchildren as often as possible and always greeted each with a kiss and a hug and was extremely interested in all aspects of their lives. She was always eager to call and catch up and her kind heart knew no bounds.  She was one of a kind.

Honorary Pallbearers are Gary Wall (grandson), Chris Lendo (grandson), Joseph Lendo (grandson), James Waguespack (grandson), David Capps (grandson), Matt Hoffman (nephew) and Clint Alexander (great-grandson).
