IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Dorris Wallace
Dillon
January 4, 1926 – March 23, 2020
Graveside services for Dorris Wallace Dillon, 94, of Livingston, Texas, will be held Friday, March 27, 2020, at 2:00 p.m. in the Forest Hill Cemetery in Livingston, Texas. Visitation will be held from 12:00 - 2:00 p.m. in the Cochran Funeral Home in Livingston, Texas.
Mrs. Dillon was born January 4, 1926 in Jackson, Mississippi to parents, Arthur Dale Vaughan and Rosa (Todd) Vaughan, and passed away March 23, 2020 in Livingston, Texas. She is preceded in death by her parents; and husband, D.D. Dillon.
During her life, Dorris was a true inspiration to whomever met. She used her life to minister to all she came across. She and Mr. Dillon devoted many a year to helping the congregation grow at Calvary Baptist in Caldwell, Texas where she was secretary and played piano while Mr. Dillon was Deacon and directed the choir. They would selflessly get up every Sunday morning and take their van and pick up every child they could round up to take to Children's Church and made sure some never went hungry. Mrs. Dillon was also President of the Woman's Missionary Union for quite a few years and was devoted to this wonderful cause. Their honeybee business was their next adventure, which they were very successful at. They were known for their amazing honey far and wide. They moved back to Livingston for their Golden Years to spend time and enjoy family where they continued to do part time beekeeping until Mr. Dillon passed in 2011. After his death, she continued on as the pianist for Chesswood Baptist Church where rain, snow, sleet, or shine would not stop her from playing. She was the beloved matriarch of her family and molded the lives of her granddaughters and taught them to walk with Christ. She will be missed dearly.
She is survived by her daughters, Cynthia Blakeney and husband, Lonnie of Livingston, and Rose Ballance and husband, Jack of Livingston; granddaughters, Kamie Cole, Cheralon David and husband, Kevin, Rentha Wilson and husband, Chuck, and Crystal Keeler and husband, Chris; great-grandchildren, Kassie Cole, Ty Cole Jr., Joshua David, Dielon David, Regan Wheeler, Taylor Wilson, Loni Wilson, Jonathon Hillhouse, and Dillon Keeler; and 2 great-great-grandchildren; along with numerous other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers: Kevin David, Chuck Wilson, Josh David, Dielon David, Jonathon Hillhouse, Louis Douglas
