Douglas Wayne Hand, age 93, of Livingston, Texas, passed away peacefully on April 9, 2026.

Funeral services will be Thursday, April 16, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. in the Cochran Funeral Chapel in Livingston, Texas with Bro, Harold Isaacs officiating. Interment will follow in the Bold Springs Cemetery in Livingston, Texas. Visitation will be Wednesday, April 15, 2026 from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. in the Cochran Funeral Chapel.

Doug was born March 4, 1933, in Buck, Texas. He is preceded in death by his parents, J.C. Hand and Birdie (McCarty) Hand and by his brothers, Johnny Hand and Kenneth Hand.

Doug is survived by his beloved wife of 73 years, Melba Hand; his daughter, Vickie Rice of Livingston; his son-in-law, Mark Rice; and his cherished grandson, Andrei Rice. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Bobbie Haynes, Carolyn Hand, and Billie Hand; his nieces, Tammie Smith (Leonard), Mary Beth Turner (Scott), and Teresa Vailes; his nephews, Ronnie Haynes (Mary) and Ricky Hand (Peggy); and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was an avid hunter, a faithful member of the Rotary Club for many years, and a lifelong, active member of Bethel Baptist Church, where he served as a devoted deacon and in his later years, as head deacon.

Doug will be remembered for his steadfast faith, his humility, his strong work ethic, and the deep love he had for his family. His life stands as a testament to perseverance, gratitude, and the lasting impact of kindness and guidance.

He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
