Funeral services for Douglas Martin, Jr., 64, of College Station, Texas, will be held at 3:00 PM, Sunday, March 23, 2014 at Cochran Funeral Home in Livingston, Texas with Pastor Rod Averitt officiating. Interment will follow in Blue Water Cemetery in Livingston, Texas with the Trinity Masonic Lodge #14 present. Military Honors will be provided by VFW Honor Guard Post #8586. Visitation will be held from 6:00 – 9:00 PM, Saturday, March 22, 2014 at Cochran Funeral Home.
Mr. Martin was born on October 22, 1949 in Town Bluff, Texas and passed away on March 19, 2014 in Austin, Texas. He proudly served his country as an accomplished U.S. Marine, earning a Bronze Star. He later worked as a Police Officer for Waller County. Doug was a beloved husband, father, and friend, he will be dearly missed. He is preceded in death by his parents, Beall Douglas Martin, Sr. and Pearl (Conaway) Martin; and good friend, Lester Tatum.
He is survived by his wife, Frances (Kersey) Martin of College Station, Texas; daughter and son-in-law, April Lewis and Dwayne of Maysville, North Carolina; son, Brian Martin of Huntsville, Texas; daughter and son-in-law, Rina Robison-Averitt and Darren of Ponchatoula, Louisiana; grandchildren, Sharlotte Lewis of Maysville, North Carolina, Jacob Lewis of Maysville, North Carolina, Madison Robison of Ponchatoula, Louisiana, and Robert Ream, Jr. of Bryan-College Station, Texas; sisters, Eva Morton of Houston, Texas and Johnnie Pugin of Winter Haven, Florida; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Mr. Martin will be escorted to his grave by pallbearers, Robert Ream, Dave Pritchard, Tommy Dobbs, Darren Averitt, Paul Fitzgerald, and Larry Matthews. Honorary pallbearers will be, Brian Martin, Marty Morton, Jim Giles, and John Fitzgerald.
