Funeral services for Edna Earl Lakey Burghart, 88, of Houston, Texas, will be held Sunday, June 23, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. in the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel in Livingston, Texas. Interment will follow in the Peebles Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 22, 2019 in the Cochran Funeral Home in Livingston, Texas.

On Thursday June 20 ^th Edna Earl Lakey Burghart went home to be with her lord at the age of 88. She was born March 21, 1931 in Houston, Texas to parents, Benjamin Franklin "B.F." Smith and Lutie (Cooper) Smith; but was raised in Goodrich, Texas.  During her life, Edna married, and was later widowed, by Huey Lakey. She later married Francis Burghart with whom she shared the rest of her life in Houston. She is beloved by all of her family and will be remembered as a wonderfully devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. In fact, the only thing Edna loved more than her family, was the Lord. She was always active in her church. She is preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Huey Lakey; and brother, Clyde Smith.

She is survived by her husband, Francis Burghart; son, Ragin Bruce Lakey; step-daughters, Cathy Kirk, and Theresa Bell and husband, Kevin; step-son, Jeff Burghart; grandchildren, Charity Cosme and husband Angel Jr., Ryan Jasso and husband, Matthew, Michael Krik, Kelly Kirk, and Jordan Bell; great-grandchildren, Robbie Cosme, Raven Washburn, Orion Cosme, Aurora Cosme, Rayne Harris, Race Jasso and Rosalyn Jasso; great-g reat -granddaughter, Mylah Cosme; niece, Terri Goff; and nephew, Keith Smith; along with numerous other relatives and friends.
