EDNA MARY (MURPHY) WALTERS, one of Polk County's oldest residents, passed away on Tuesday, October 28, 2014, in Livingston, Texas, at the age of 103 ½ years. Edna was born April 6, 1911, in a dogtrot log cabin at Camp Ruby, Texas. Her parents were Sam Jack Murphy and Lydia Ida (Creel) Murphy; Edna was the third child of eight children and the oldest daughter.

Funeral services for Edna will be held Saturday, November 1, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. in the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel in Livingston, Texas, with Bro. David Jones officiating. Interment will follow in the Menard Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday, October 31, 2014, beginning at 5:00 p.m. in Cochran Funeral Home in Livingston, Texas.

She is preceded in death by her husband Alton Walters and baby son Leon Aldon Walters; parents Sam Jack and Lydia Murphy; siblings Gordie Murphy, Drewie Murphy, Grace Murphy Dent, Esther Murphy Morris; parents-in-law Henry and Exer Walters; son-in-law, Raymond Racki; granddaughters, April and Alyssa Racki; great granddaughter Cara Rose Townsend; brothers-in-law Wyatt and Arley Walters; sisters-in-law Ruby Walters Lannou and Sadie Walters Murphy.

She is survived by her daughters: Sally (Walters) Racki of Livingston, Texas; Sonja Rae (Walters) Asendorf and Wally of Georgetown, Texas; Darlene (Walters) Wise and Harold of Canton, Texas; sister-in-law Lonnelle Walters of Magnolia, Texas; grandchildren, Joe Keith MacMillan and Monti, Toni (Asendorf) Stanley and Michael, Terri (Asendorf) Hyde and Troy, Brad J. Bowman and Mirna; step-grandson, Jim Wise; great grandchildren, Chase Townsend, Hunter Townsend, Caitlin Townsend, Alexa MacMillan, Haley MacMillan, Brian Stanley, Kate Stanley, Sunny Hyde, Sierra Speegle, Elise Bowman, Curtis Wise, and James Wise; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
