Obit for Effie Lou Hunt
Effie Lou Gentry Hunt was laid to rest with quiet dignity on Tuesday, May 21, 2013, in a graveside service at Peebles Cemetery, with the Reverend Jason Driskell, officiating.
Mrs. Hunt was born on March 9, 1920, to Edd Gentry and Nora Sherman Gentry in the rural community of Viola, Arkansas.
She is preceded in death by her parents and siblings, brothers, Boyce Gentry, Henry Gentry, Earl Gentry and sisters, Hazel Gentry and Corene Chance; grandson, Clint Sanders; and son-in-law, David Bensey. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Frank Hunt whom she married on January 26, 1955, in Houston, Texas.
Mrs. Hunt is survived by her daughters, Jo Sanders and husband, Charles R. Sanders of Henderson, Texas, and Marsha Pugh and husband, John ""Dusty"" Pugh of Goodrich, Texas, and step-daughter Pamela Bensey of Houston, Texas. She is also survived by grandsons, Robert Sanders and wife, Tammy of Henderson, Texas, Chance Sanders of Pidkote, Texas, and Cody Pugh and wife, Emily of Goodrich, Texas, and granddaughter Kim Smetzer of Las Cruces, New Mexico. Mrs. Hunt leaves behind six great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter and a host of nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Hunt was educated in the public schools of Viola, Arkansas. As a young woman during World War II, she worked in a munitions plant where her job was to polish the inside of large brass shell casings. Following her marriage to Frank in 1955, she became a full time homemaker. In 1960, they moved to Goodrich, Texas, where she lived until the time of death on Sunday, May 19, 2013.
