Ellen Long, 87 of Livingston, passed away on Friday, February 1, 2013, in Crockett, Texas. Funeral serves will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, February 4, 2013, at the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel, in Livingston. Rev. Denton Maze and Rev. Dewayne Clark to officiate. Pallbearers will be Dennis Athey, Mark Wessels, Wayne Wessels, Lynn Frank Strahan, Arnold Oliver, Bill Bergman, and Marty Lowe; interment to follow at Peebles Cemetery. Visitation to be held from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 3, 2013, at the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel.
Ms. Long was born January 29, 1926,in Dayton, Texas, to parents, Clifton Columbus McKnight and Hazel (Jerrell) McKnight who preceded her in death, along with her second Husband, Edgar Pat Long. She is also preceded by her first Husband, Odell Coward and Daughter, Zelda Lela Coward; and Brothers, Harm Venton McKnight, Dan Raymon McKnight and James Lawrence McKnight.
Ms. Long is survived by her Daughter and Son-in-law, Linda and Ruff Petty; Foster Son and Daughter-in-law, Lloyd and Teresa McKnight of Hempstead, Texas; Foster Son and Daughter-in-law, Marvin Earl and Linda McKnight, II of Winnie, Texas; Grandchildren: Richard R. Petty, Jennifer Tenopir, Chris Tenopir, J.R. McKnight, Emily Streeter, Brandon Streeter and Clifton McKnight; Great Grandchildren: Lorenzo Petty, Gage Tenopir and Tocolla Holley; Brother and Sister-in-law, Marvin and May McKnight of Diboll, Texas; Brother and Sister-in-law, George and Mary Ann McKnight of Crockett, Texas; Sisters: Betty Thomas of Clute, Texas and Dorothy Lowe of Livingston, Texas; and numerous other family and friends.
Ms. Long was an excellent seamstress and owned ""Ellen' Fabric Shop"" for many years. She had a passion for making clothes for others, especially family and friends. Some of her favorite hobbies included cooking, making birthday and wedding cakes, quilting, raising a garden and working in the yard. There was nothing Ms. Long couldn?ÇÖt do once she put her mind to it. Besides love for her family, she also loved fellowship with her church and comfort in reading her bible.
