Ellen was born September 28, 1950 in Conroe, Texas to parents, Frankie Agnes Powledge and Samuel Clarence "Step" Powledge; and went to be with her Lord and Savior on October 16, 2023 at her home, surrounded by family. She is preceded in death by her husband, Lonnie Pursley; parents, Frankie and Step Powledge; and grandparents, Sudie and Pat Walker.
She is survived by her sister, Betty Hollis and husband Bud; sister-in-law, Pam Pursley; loving children, Rebecca Russell and husband Mike, Shonda Blalock and husband Stephen, James Pursley and wife Lindsey, Justin Pursley, Cory Pursley, Ashlee Pursley, and Wesley "Goobie" Pursley; grandchildren, Shelby, Brittany and husband Justin, Jesse, Heather "Tootie", Kaytlynn and husband Deaven, Hagen, Westen, Carter, Colton, Kasen, Masen, Jace, Landon, Gentry, Rowan, Rhett, Emerson, Ella Kate, and Emery; great grandchildren, Jaydain, Branson, Hudson, Addisynn, Aspen, Stetson, Haisley, Hattie, and Camden; nieces, Lara Boyd and Stephanie Hollis; and her special friends, Loree Avery, Brandon Watson, The Wilkinsons, Shirley Byrum, Deloris Washington, Cyndi Pira, Mike Prigmore, Allen Netzel, and Jeannie Johnson; as well as her many, many friends and family members.
Ellen was a bus driver for many years and loved her job. She enjoyed driving the big yellow bus along her route as well as to many football games and endless field trips. She loved her Lord and Savior most of all and looked forward to congregating with her church family.
Ellen never met a stranger. She had the biggest heart and loved her family and friends dearly. Ellen always knew how to brighten up a room with her larger-than-life stories. She was the beacon of joy and laughter that will continue to radiate. She was fearless and everyone knew who was in charge when she was around. Not only was her love for George Strait strong, she was also an avid high school football fan, always cheering for the Corrigan-Camden Bulldogs and her Boys of Fall.
Our hearts are heavy and Ellen will be missed dearly by everyone, but she is at peace and comfortable with her Lord and Savior.
