Funeral services for Ellis Kuehn Jr., 88, of Tomball, Texas will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, November 6, 2017 in the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel in Livingston, Texas with Bro. Steve Waldrep officiating. Interment will follow in the Restland Memorial Park Cemetery in Livingston, Texas. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the service beings at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, November 6, 2017.
Mr. Kuehn was born on August 9, 1929 in Houston, Texas to parents, Ellis Kuehn Sr. and Edna (Youngblood) Kuehn, and passed away on November 1, 2017 in Humble, Texas. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Clydine Kuehn; and brothers, Jimmy Kuehn, Henry Kuehn, Billy Kuehn, and Charles Kuehn. During his life, Ellis started school in Hempstead, Texas in 1935 until 1937 when he moved to Tomball. He graduated from Tomball High School in 1947. After high-school, he attended Sam Houston State College from 1947-1951 where he received a double major in physical education and biology. Ellis then went on to earn his master's in secondary education in 1957.
After Ellis earned his double major from San Houston State, he began working for Sealy High School from 1951-1952 as a coach and science teacher. From 1952-1955, he was a math teacher and coach for Tomball High School. After Tomball, Ellis moved to Livingston High School where he met his wife, Clydine. He was a coach and a science/history teacher for Livingston from 1955-1959. In 1959, he took a teaching position in Hearne High School. He was a coach and taught science and history until 1967. From 1967 until his retirement in 1993, he was a coach, Assistant Principal, the driver's education teacher, and the attendance counselor for the Aldine ISD. Ellis was also an Investec C.U. Board Member from 1978 until 2016.
He is survived by his son, David Ellis Kuehn of Houston, Texas; son, John Kuehn and wife, Stacia of Humble, Texas; daughter, Kathy Fleming and husband, Craig of Humble, Texas; granddaughters, Chanda Frank, Lindsay Fleming, and Christina Fleming; brother, Sam Kuehn; and sisters, Velma Jean Petrich and Alice Rogers; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
